A Legacy in Glass

Restoring Our Sanctuary Stained Glass Windows

“One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.” Psalm 145:4

Project Overview:

The stained glass windows in our sanctuary are an important part of Forks UCC’s worship life and history. Installed over 115 years ago, these windows have witnessed generations of baptisms, weddings, funerals, and weekly worship. After more than a century of exposure to weather and time, they are now in need of careful restoration to preserve their beauty and structural integrity for future generations.

Project Cost - $80,000

total cost for full restoration of all four north-side sanctuary windows

Our Goal:

  • Forks UCC Congregational goal: $40,000

  • The remaining funds will come from the proceeds of our past church dinners and festivals.

“One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.” Psalm 27:4

What the Project Includes:

The restoration will be completed by skilled stained-glass professionals using a careful, preservation-focused process:

  • Careful removal of each window, piece by piece

  • Cleaning and restoration of the original glass

  • Installation of new lead to strengthen and support the glass

  • New ventilators with protective screens to allow proper airflow while preventing damage

  • New protective, clear glass storm windows with aluminum frames

    • Aluminum frames will not rot and no painting required

    • Long-term protection from weather and environmental damage

Each window will be restored individually to ensure accuracy, safety, and preservation of the original craftsmanship.

“You are the light of the world... let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

Why This Matters?

This project is not cosmetic- it is necessary maintenance that protects:

  • The historic character of our sanctuary

  • The safety and longevity of the windows

  • A visual witness of faith that has shaped generations of worship

By completing this work now, we reduce the risk of greater damage and higher costs in the future.

Our Shared Commitment:

Through A Legacy in Glass, we are caring for what has been entrusted to us so that God’s light may continue to shine through these windows for generations to come.

Everyone has a Place:

This will be an 8-month campaign, March 2026 through October 2026.

We invite everyone to take part, as able.
